Responsibilities
- Leads project teams as Principal-in-Charge.
- Is an extended member of the S&T practice leadership team and participates in defining the vision, strategy, and business plans for the firm-wide practice.
- Represents S&T in the Texas region and fulfills the firm-wide Regional Market Leader criteria.
- Acts as a subject matter expert, wins new work, leads teams as Principal-in-Charge, participates in market leadership, and participates in Regional Practice Leadership Group.
- Serves as Principal-In-Charge (PIC) for S&T projects and understands industry, regional client sensitivities, and market drivers.
- Fosters a culture of external and internal client service.
- Manages day-to-day administration of the S&T Texas regional practice.
- Executes defined practice goals and business plan.
- Reports regional status to S&T firm-wide leadership team.
- Prepares project fee and workload projections.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate chargeability for regional S&T projects.
- Develops and executes the S&T practice’s Texas regional marketing strategy.
- Identifies new business opportunities, maintains and grows current client relationships, and seeks out new opportunities and prospects.
- Supports HOK’s standing in the regional marketplace by developing and maintaining positive industry relationships.
- Assists in preparation of related marketing, promotional, and press-related materials.
- Participates in S&T industry activities by speaking, presenting, and writing to enhance thought leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 10 years of science and technology experience, with at least 5 years in a management/leadership role.
- Published and/or award-winning projects a plus.
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.

- Demonstrated creativity, passion, and interest in design and planning of S&T focused facilities.
- Advanced knowledge in S&T programming/planning, design development, and project leadership.
- Thorough knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for S&T facilities.
- Thorough understanding of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
- Thorough understanding of current laboratory design codes and guidelines.
- Knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery.
- Ability to manage the S&T department with a collaborative leadership style that values relationships, both internal and external.
- Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and provide high-quality service to clients.
- Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with external clients and internal staff.
- Proven ability to effectively present, sell, and negotiate HOK’s services.
- Proficiency in the basic technical skills of architecture, including Deltek Vantagepoint, Primavera or MS Project, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop, Revit, 3D Modeling software, and graphic software.
