About the role

We are seeking an Architecture & Design Specification Representative for the five New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island) and Long Island. Candidates must reside within the sales territory. This field-based role requires in-person customer visits three to four days per week and regular automobile travel; reliable transportation is essential. The position may involve frequent lifting, pushing, or carrying of items up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously develop and nurture strong relationships with architects and designers.
  • Schedule and conduct face-to-face and virtual meetings with new and existing clients to learn about current and upcoming projects and demonstrate how Richelieu solutions can enhance their results.
  • Gather and secure specifications in product categories including decorative hardware, lighting, sliding door hardware, laminate, solid surface, quartz, and premium panels.
  • Analyze past specification patterns of current accounts and brainstorm strategies to become their stronger, more inclusive supplier.
  • Provide educational training on products and industry developments to the architecture and design community.
  • Deliver a state-of-the-art customer service experience, positioning yourself as their desired one-stop-shop.
  • Stay current on Richelieu’s product offerings, market conditions, and competitive landscape.
  • Utilize sales support applications and systems, with proficient and consistent use of CRM.

Requirements

  • Successful experience as a Specification Representative or Designer (recent graduates with a design degree may be considered).
  • Ability to schedule and manage your own time effectively to deliver results.
  • Proactive, high-energy, coachable, and strong work ethic.
  • Developed design, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • University degree in Design is an asset.

Pay

Total annual earnings (base pay + bonus) estimated at $80,000–$100,800, comprising a competitive market-based salary plus an annual bonus.
