About the role

The contractor will work under the direction of the Principal Archaeologist of the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), within the IL Dept. of Natural Resources, to conduct compliance reviews pursuant to the Illinois State Agency Historic Resources Preservation Act and the National Historic Preservation Act for effects to cultural resources and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compliance reviews pursuant to the Illinois State Agency Historic Resources Preservation Act and the National Historic Preservation Act for effects to cultural resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in archaeological fieldwork or historic preservation.
  • Knowledge of Illinois State Agency Historic Resources Preservation Act and National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
