Aquatics Director

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversight of daily maintenance, cleanliness, and water chemistry for both indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Assistance with seasonal transitions, including outdoor pool preparation and winterization.
  • Coordination of equipment repairs and maintenance of supply inventory.
  • Maintenance and facilitation of the Silverlake Learn to Swim Program.

Staff Supervision

  • Recruitment, hiring, and training of a diverse team of lifeguards.
  • Leadership and direction of Assistant Aquatics Director for swim lesson programs.
  • Management of complex schedules for multiple pools.
  • Updating and maintaining staff certification records.

Programming and Events

  • Liaison with the Northern KY Clippers for practice time coverage and swim meet hosting.
  • Support for Birthday Party Coordinator in organizing indoor and outdoor parties.
  • Cohort with department heads and community organizations for facility rentals, swim meets, and special events.
  • Overseeing of Masters swim program.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforcement of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Implementation and updating of Emergency Action Plans (EAP).
  • Daily facility walk-throughs to ensure compliance and address maintenance issues.
  • Ensuring the safety of facility patrons during emergencies.

Administrative and Fiscal

  • Management of the aquatics budget, tracking income and expenses.
  • Development and enforcement of department policies, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of aquatic management experience, supervisory experience required.
  • Certifications: Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Desired: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), Red Cross LGI Certification within 90 days of hire, Swim America Site Supervisor Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Essential Skills: Strong leadership and communication, ability to handle high-pressure situations, budget management.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments, stamina for strenuous tasks.
