Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Oversees the development and operations of various aquatics programming and designs processes and procedures for strong program and project management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to two years of related experience preferred.
- Certifications needed: CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding (American Red Cross).
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the planning and programming for assigned aquatic facility and programs.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs aquatics personnel and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Monitors daily pool operations for assigned aquatic facility to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Ensures upkeep of equipment and ensures uncompromising levels of cleanliness and safety.
- Schedules the pool and recreational facilities; creating and scheduling classes, events, practices and meets. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Actively participates in the YMCA Annual Campaign and supports the branch team in meeting goals.
