Aqua Group Exercise Instructor

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) seeks a dynamic and experienced individual to conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous, and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and lead water group exercise classes according to YMCA of the USA and Senior Aquatics Director guidelines
• Ensure all scheduled classes are conducted and sub coverage is secured
• Greet participants, learn their names, and take attendance
• Familiarize yourself with Upace Group Ex technology and respond promptly to emails
• Identify and accommodate participants' limitations during classes
• Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
• Promote a healthy lifestyle and attend advanced training workshops
• Participate in special events and open houses
• Ensure compliance with YGBW policies and standard operating procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required
• At least one Group Exercise certification from a nationally accredited organization
• Water Fitness certification required

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain at least one Group Exercise certification from a nationally accredited organization
• Water Fitness certification required
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
• Ability to plan, lead, and participate in classes and activities
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting, often in water
• Ability to hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility
• Ability to remain alert with no lapses of consciousness
• Ability to see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
