Apprentice Shop Service Tech - Texas First Rentals

About the role

The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will assist the Shop Service Supervisor through on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician. The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

• Assists in performing maintenance and repair of rental fleet
• Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
• Examines and tests equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning
• Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
• Attends required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes
• Maintains safety training and procedures
• Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Skills

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
• Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to read, write, and interpret information
• Ability to follow directions and guidelines
• Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
• Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment
• Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Physical Requirements

• Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
• Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climb up and down ladders
• Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment

• Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes (inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity)
• Uses hand and power tools to complete tasks
• Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole body vibration
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
