Apprentice Lineman

The Craft – Apprentice Lineman is responsible for safely and efficiently performing civil/electrical duties at the project site.

Responsibilities

• Climb wood poles, lattice structures, and work off steel mono‑pole structures.
• Clip overhead structures.
• Assist in the construction of new overhead and underground services and service upgrades.
• Operate bucket truck, digger derrick, back‑hoe, production digger, tensioner, and rope puller.
• Present, support, and lead by example with a safety and quality‑oriented attitude.

Safety

• Prioritize safety and follow safe practices while working.
• Reinforce safe behaviors and eliminate “at risk” behaviors.
• Ensure Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) occur before scopes of work commence.
• Adhere to and understand standard operating procedures.
• Receive job‑ and task‑specific training prior to work commencing.
• Follow technical, quality, and safety systems and determine appropriate action.
• Report potentially unsafe conditions and use materials and equipment properly.
• Attend work regularly and punctually as scheduled or expected.
• Comply with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program (required).
• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• 1+ years of underground and substation experience (preferred).
• Ability to travel domestically 76‑100% of the time.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of distribution and transmission lines.
• Knowledge in framing.
• Experience with sticking and gloving.
• Interest in a program of self‑development.
• Willingness to accept increased responsibilities.
• Functional competencies: attention to detail, communication, accountability, ethics and integrity.

Compensation

The final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. A per diem of $100 daily is provided to cover lodging, meals, and travel during rotation.

Physical Requirements and Environment

• Occasionally: crouching, kneeling, pinching, sitting, and stooping.
• Frequently: carrying, pulling, pushing, and lifting 31‑50 lb; climbing, grasping, gripping, handling, reaching, standing, and walking.
• Constantly: reading, hearing, vision, and repetitive motions.
• Occasional exposure to extreme cold and wet environments.
• Frequent exposure to extreme heat, humidity, noise, hazards, and vibration.
