Key Responsibilities
- Assist in constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electric distribution lines.
- Perform line work safely under the direction of experienced crew members while following Cooperative and industry safety standards.
- Inspect distribution lines and equipment, identify potential issues, and assist with repairs and maintenance.
- Locate and mark underground utility lines.
- Read electric meters and identify hazardous conditions when necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance on fleet vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and on-the-job learning opportunities.
- Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully progress through the apprenticeship program toward Journeyman Lineman status.
- Represent the Cooperative professionally while providing excellent service to members and the public.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Certified Electrical Line Worker Program or equivalent education/work experience.
- A Class A driver’s license or the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service.
- A mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding work, including climbing poles, lifting equipment, and responding to emergency situations.
