Responsibilities
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform entry-level duties in a court using an electronic filing system.
- Work under close supervision to learn general office knowledge and specific court policies and procedures.
- Process court cases with responsibility for applying independent judgment and following statutes, policies, and regulations.
- Handle accounting duties such as receiving and disbursing monies, and reconciling financial accounts within a case management system.
- Support circuit judges or associate circuit judges by providing a full range of responsibilities within the division's jurisdiction.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and external stakeholders.
- Provide direct support to the public by answering inquiries, furnishing information, and making copies as needed.
- Operate electronic sound recording equipment and perform courtroom-related duties as required.
- Ensure the daily delivery and pick-up of mail within Christian County buildings.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning.
- Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Strong PC, typing, interpersonal, and clerical skills, including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Scanner, Lotus Notes, MS Teams, and the ability to operate standard office equipment.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and external stakeholders.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehend court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws, and legal factors pertaining to the court.
- Gain working knowledge of organization operations, functions, and scope of authority of the court.
- Exercise good judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with general policy and objectives.
- Maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from an automated system.
- May include physical requirements necessary to perform the job, such as carrying, standing, and lifting.
