Position Purpose: As a LONG Apprentice Controls Technician, you will support customers by helping to program temperature control systems based on project specifications. Using your knowledge in the commercial HVAC industry, you will assist other Technicians in performing installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid in programming databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Help control Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Aid in graphics coordination and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers).
  • Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
  • Aptitude for computer systems or mechanical systems.
  • Basic programming and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Already enrolled in the ASP program.
  • 1+ years of tech school.

Physical Requirements

  • Inside and outside work environment
  • Consistent in state travel to jobsites
  • Hazards: General construction worksite hazards, High precarious places

About the Role
