A position at Xcel Energy could be just what you’re looking for. Xcel Energy Distribution Department is looking to fill an Apprentice (1st Year - 4th Year) or Journeyman Line Worker position for our Dumas, TX location.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for construction, maintenance and operations of distribution and transmission lines.
- Supports maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission lines.
Requirements
- Must have a High School diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date.
- Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment.
- Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service.
- Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs.
- Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift objects up to 90 pounds, pass a physical examination and be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of conditions.
- Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and groundwork with utility line crew required.
- A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
Qualifications
- Apprentice Qualifications: Must have a High School diploma or GED; Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date; Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment; Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service; Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs; Must be mentally competent, able to communicate and able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experience; Must exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with others; Must be of adequate physical stature to lift and maneuver up to 90 lbs., climb wood poles up to 100' tall, perform aerial work in a safety belt in a safe and efficient manner, use shovels, sledgehammers and 90 lb. jack hammers, work in confined areas; Must pass the federal DOT physical examination.
- Journeyman Qualifications: Must successfully score on the Journeyman Assessment; Completion of an approved apprentice line program is required or 5 years of progressive electric lineman experience; Must have a Class A CDL; Must be capable of performing all aspects of electric distribution overhead, underground, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting; Must be available for emergency callouts as per a schedule; Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written); Must be physically fit and able to lift objects up to 90 pounds, pass a physical examination and be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of conditions; Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and groundwork with utility line crew required; A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.

Pay
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $30.93 to $53.16 per hour.
Schedule
Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods.
