Responsibilities
- Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to develop AI-driven products.
- Leverage technologies like PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, and VectorDBs to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Create and refine AI foundation models throughout the development lifecycle, from initial design to deployment.
- Innovate by applying the latest AI advancements to improve customer experiences and business operations.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to align on business goals and objectives.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with large-scale deep learning model development and optimization.
- Knowledge of various AI methodologies and technologies, including but not limited to training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, and reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF).
- Experience with open-source tools and cloud computing platforms for AI development.
- A strong understanding of the foundations of AI and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
- Track record of delivering AI models at scale, particularly in areas like natural language processing (NLP), image recognition, and graph analysis.
- Experience in deploying and fine-tuning large language models.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently obtained a PhD in relevant fields.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields.
- Exceptional academic achievements and publications in AI research.
- Experience with large-scale AI projects and a proven track record of innovation and problem-solving.
Skills
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Knowledge of distributed computing and cloud-based services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with ethical considerations in AI development and deployment.

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role vary by location, ranging from $262,500 to $299,600 for the Applied Researcher II (AI Foundations) position in Cambridge, MA. Other positions listed have different ranges.
