Applied Researcher II (AI Foundations)

About the role

The AI Foundations team at Capital One is central to bringing our vision for AI to life. We partner with academia and build production systems to apply the latest in AI to our business. In this role, you will:

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies to reveal insights in data.
• Build AI foundation models through all phases of development.
• Engage in high-impact applied research.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals.

Responsibilities

You will:

• Work with a cross-functional team to develop AI-powered products.
• Use a variety of technologies to analyze and interpret data.
• Create and refine AI foundation models.
• Contribute to cutting-edge research in AI.
• Communicate the value of your work to stakeholders.

Requirements

You should:

• Have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields, or a Master's degree with 5 years of industrial NLP research experience.
• Be familiar with NLP and have experience with large language model training.
• Have a strong understanding of deep learning algorithms and optimizations.
• Have experience with model compression and fine-tuning.
• Be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and innovate.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Master's degree with 5 years of industrial NLP research experience.
• Experience with large language model training and optimization.
• Knowledge of deep learning algorithms and optimizations.
• Experience with model compression and fine-tuning.
• Ability to lead and innovate in AI research.

• Cambridge, MA: $262,500 - $299,600
• Mclean, VA: $262,500 - $299,600
• New York, NY: $286,400 - $326,800
• San Francisco, CA: $286,400 - $326,800
