About the Role

Austal USA Advanced Technologies (AT) operates a technology hub in Charlottesville, VA, and the U.S. Navy's Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM COE) in Danville, VA. The mission of the AM COE is to operationalize additive manufacturing in the submarine industrial base and provide emergent request support to sustain the Nation's fleet. As an Applications Support Analyst II, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the digital tools deployed at the Navy's AM COE in Danville and the advanced manufacturing facility in Charlottesville. Key responsibilities include managing the digital manufacturing system platforms and safeguarding the Navy's central repository for AM manufacturing data. Purpose

The Applications Support Analyst II will evaluate the Advanced Technologies division's existing software and application setup, identifying areas for potential improvement, and apply changes to applications. This role supports higher-complexity issues with moderate supervision, focusing on the configuration, maintenance, and integration of applications to align with user requirements and organizational objectives related to budget, efficiency, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and implementation of new and existing computer and software applications deployed for the US Navy AM COE.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new software and updates for existing applications to improve US Navy AM COE processes.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments by gathering data, analyzing system and business requirements, and developing improvement plans for US Navy AM COE digital tools.
  • Utilize advanced application specific knowledge to configure, update, and debug US Navy AM COE applications to maintain end-to-end solutions.
  • Provide support for COTS applications (driven by documented specifications provided through lead department personnel) and reports to implement new business requirements and augment current application functionality across US Navy AM COE systems.
  • Offer ongoing support to US Navy AM COE application users by diagnosing and resolving technical issues; escalate complex problems to senior team members as necessary.
  • Ensure data integrity through data quality control, validation, and documentation; assists in developing requirements for program and operational initiatives.
  • Create and execute test scripts independently, as needed for program tasks, with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on feasibility analysis, project scopes, and work with the Program Management team to prioritize deliverables, and product functionality negotiations.
  • Maintain documentation for recordkeeping, change control and configuration maintenance.
  • Provide analytic support regarding data interpretation from DB supplied queries.
  • Partners with AM COE team to provide routine reporting on software solution performance.
  • Participates in Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Functionality Testing for US Navy AM COE digital tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required. A combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in Applications Support or similar role.
  • At least 1 year of directly related experience managing PLM, MES, and/or ERP systems.
  • Intermediate understanding of software applications, IT support principles, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Visio).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computers, software applications, and systems maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ever-changing environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of organizing and coordinating scheduled events (meetings, team-based tasks).
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to exhibit the following characteristics in everyday work: leadership to assigned initiatives, analytical problem-solving, risk identification/mitigation, sense of urgency; sense of accountability; excellent communication (listening and effective speaking), relationship-building.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing or a related industry is preferred.
  • Proficient/Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
    • Workday
    • AutoCAD WindChill PLM
    • MES
    • Machine Learning/AI

Additional Guidelines

Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA:

  • 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen.
  • Willing to submit to a background check.
