Application Engineer - Bay Area
About the role
Provide solutions to complex problems faced by engineers and scientists designing and building today’s most advanced wireless applications. Work alongside Sales, Marketing, and R&D teams to demonstrate products, provide training, develop new features on test solutions, and deliver technical support to a wide-ranging customer base throughout the US. Function as a consultative solutions provider, often treated as an extension of the customer’s internal technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Technical consultant for RF parametric testing supporting both R&D and manufacturing projects
- Demonstrate R&S manufacturing solutions with different wireless modem chipset vendors to customers
- Develop, integrate, and test R&S manufacturing test automation solutions within customer’s test environment
- Advocate to customers on R&S manufacturing tools, creating test plans and test methods for WiFi/BT/UWB and 4G/5G testing
- Support customers on site, mostly in the USA but occasionally in Asia or Europe as per project demands
- Contribute to a global Engineering team with ideas on product and process improvements
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant experience in RF & wireless communication including WiFi/BT/UWB/4G/5G
- 3+ years of experience in Python, object-oriented programming, and software version control tools (SVN, GIT, etc); C++/Shell scripting a plus
- 3+ years of experience working with various wireless modem chipset vendor test tools (Qualcomm, Broadcom, MTK, etc.)
- Experience with testing wireless devices and automation test solutions
- Experience working with test equipment including radio communications testers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
- Understanding of test instrument & wireless modem chipset control APIs, including SCPI programming
- Excellent verbal/written communication and customer interfacing skills
- Domestic and international travel – up to 10-15%
- Must reside in the US and have valid US work authorization

Pay
The total compensation for this position is $170,000–$220,000. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable), plus benefits. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure, and job-related skills.
