About the Role
Perform duties as a working lead supervisor to implement product quality enhancements in a warehouse environment. Occasional travel (out-of-town/overnight) and Service Call ride-alongs are required to observe issues firsthand at consumer installations, accompanied by Factory Service personnel.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and/or install appliance product upgrades/enhancements in a domestic RDC (warehouse) environment.
- Work alongside Whirlpool or supplier contractors and/or local temp labor.
- Conduct customer home visits with service providers to document customer pain points.
- Gather photos, videos, failed parts, and notes from in-home visits using a Google form.
- Collaborate with Whirlpool plants and engineers to analyze data and improve product quality.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field and 5+ years of Industrial/Automotive/Appliance Manufacturing Quality experience or 5+ years of experience as an Appliance Service Technician.
- Familiarity and experience using hand tools (e.g., drills, powered and non-powered tools).
- Proficiency with computers, test equipment, and spreadsheet software.
- Experience following test and inspection SOPs/instructions.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to use a computer and peripheral equipment.
Working Conditions
- Onsite in a warehouse environment (ambient temperature in RDC).
- Typical working hours: 6 AM – 4 PM.
- Interact with service providers and Whirlpool customers.
- Engineering provides rework instructions, parts, and specialty tools.
- Warehouse provides repacking material, material movers, and inventory setup.
Examples of Work
Rework Tasks
- Inspect condenser fan operation on a refrigerator; replace if required.
- Install upgraded software via programmer or OTA (over-the-air).
- Inspect and replace glass door pack adhesive on a range.
Customer Home Visits
- Follow a weekly schedule of addresses and customer calls with a service provider.
- Shadow the service provider while documenting customer pain points.
- Collect data (photos, videos, failed parts, notes) via Google form for root-cause analysis.
Pay
$40 per hour.
Schedule
15-month contract with possible extension. Onsite in Mechanicsburg, PA.
