APPAREL/LEAD CLERK

About the role

Responsible for ordering, stocking merchandise and maintaining the assigned section of the apparel department, and maintaining fixtures, displays, and signing. This position is also responsible for the training, coaching and directing all associates that work within their specific area of the Home sections. Perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Stock displays with new or back-stock merchandise
• Ensure divisional signing, recovery and merchandising standards
• Maintain ticketing standards
• Follow corporate policies
• Adhere to planograms and composites
• Follow shrink control guidelines
• Coordinate and organize merchandising of the section
• Ensure on-hand integrity, RMS updates as needed
• Build and maintain vendor relationships
• Receive and process freight
• Perform inventory control functions as required
• Ensure ads and promotions are set to standard
• Process salvage
• Prepare for physical inventory as directed
• Process returns/exchanges
• Conduct stock counts
• Build ends and displays
• Maintain an awareness of current market trends
• React with urgency to changing sales opportunities
• Process product deletions
• Ensure accuracy and follow up on price changes
• Engage with Customers and sell products to customers
• Teach/demonstrate selling skills
• Participate in mandatory training programs
• Perform cashier functions, when required
• Process mail
• Maintain an awareness of overstock/understock conditions to ensure ordering system integrity
• Respond to verbal Customer comments/complaints
• Assist in the inventory process
• Write Intersection Transfers
• Manage P & L responsibilities, seasonal sets
• Process mismates
• Perform any and all duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights as the work demands
• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to make intelligent decisions quickly
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers
• Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services related to sale of merchandise
• Qualified and able to operate power machinery and work with various job tools (Pallet jack, Forklift, compactors, box cutters, label guns, etc.)
