About the role
Responsible for ordering, stocking merchandise and maintaining the assigned section of the apparel department, including fixtures, displays, and signing. Train, coach, and direct Apparel Clerks. Perform production and customer service functions while maximizing store sales and profits. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Stock displays, maintain divisional signing, recovery, and merchandising standards
- Ensure ticketing standards, corporate policies, planograms, and composites are followed
- Set ads to standard, process returns/exchanges, price changes, and mismates
- Control shrink and coordinate/organize merchandising of the section
- Build and maintain vendor relationships
- Receive and process freight
- Perform inventory control functions and conduct stock counts
- Build ends and displays
- Maintain awareness of current market trends and react to changing sales opportunities
- Sell products to customers and teach/demonstrate selling skills
- Perform cashier functions
- Monitor overstock/understock conditions to ensure ordering system integrity
- Respond to customer comments/complaints
- Assist in the inventory process and write Intersection Transfers
- Manage P&L responsibilities and seasonal sets
- Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Willing to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly
- Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive impression on associates and customers
- Skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer service related to merchandise sales
- Qualified to operate power machinery and work with various job tools
Qualifications
- Related retail work experience (desired)
- Familiarity with apparel sales terms and processes (desired)
- Past work record reflecting dependability and integrity (desired)
