APP ( NP or PA) Family and Internal Medicine - Starkey
Full-time day shift position located in Roanoke, Virginia. $21,000 sign-on bonus.
About the Role
Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – to join Carilion Family Medicine – Starkey Road. This role offers the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and provide high-quality, comprehensive primary care across the lifespan. You will work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other care-team members within Carilion Clinic’s integrated health system, practicing with a high degree of autonomy while benefiting from robust resources and support.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing.
- Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
- Educate patients and families about disease prevention, wellness, medications, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and support quality and patient-safety initiatives.
- Help create an exceptional experience for patients and their families.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program or an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Nurse Practitioners must also hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
- Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required as appropriate to the position.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems.

- Commitment to collaborative, team-based, patient-centered care.
- Primary care or family medicine experience is preferred; qualified candidates with a strong interest in family medicine are encouraged to apply.
- One year of clinical experience preferred; additional experience may be required based on specialty.

Pay
Compensation range: $107,993.60 – $172,785.60. Employee pay is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The range does not include benefits or pension plan.
