APP Gen Surgery/Trauma Inpatient/UKHC

About the role

The Trauma/Gen Surgery Inpatient APP works within the adult ICU, progressive care, and acute care areas and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team. The APP primarily manages critically and acutely ill adults and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for intensive care interventions.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge.
• May have responsibilities for the same patient population as they return for follow-up in the outpatient setting.
• Demonstrates advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills.
• Takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Requirements

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Certification or enrollment in Post Master’s ACNP program within one year of hire.
• Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C).

Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, walking.
• Pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs.

Schedule

Day shift; 7x 12-hour shifts per biweekly pay period; may require rotation of night-shift coverage as needed.
