About the Role

Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established outpatient primary care practice in Carrizozo, New Mexico. The provider will lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team—including nurses, medical assistants, case and care managers, behavioral health clinicians, pharmacist clinicians, and clerical staff—to deliver comprehensive care. This position requires regular communication and teamwork.

Practice Highlights

• 16–20 patients per day
• Dedicated RN/MA support staff

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
• Make professional medical judgments in patient care.
• Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic x-ray and lab tests.
• Prescribe treatments, medications, and non-pharmacologic therapies.
• Document all patient encounters and communications appropriately.
• Manage the provider-patient relationship, including resolving complaints.
• Educate and counsel individuals, families, and groups.
• Serve as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
• Work autonomously and collaboratively with other healthcare providers and staff.
• Participate in recruitment and replacement of other providers.
• Contribute to system-wide health management initiatives.
• Provide input on practice site performance, budget, capital plans, and personnel issues.
• Offer clinical input for developing and reviewing clinical protocols and processes.
• Enhance professional growth through educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
• Attend and participate in scheduled meetings (PCC, provider, and site meetings).
• Adapt assessment techniques based on patient condition, culture, age, and developmental stage.
• Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and reimbursement.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, ANCC or AANP certification required. Minimum of two years’ experience preferred but not required.

Physician Assistant: Baccalaureate-prepared, CAHEA-certified, or three years’ experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners.
