Clinical Responsibilities

• Aids in gathering, reviewing, and evaluating relevant patient history.
• Maintains a secure environment and reacts promptly to emergencies and safety issues.
• Administers and dispenses medications and fluids according to established protocols.
• Maintains continuous monitoring of the airway, depth of anesthesia, fluid status, and physiological responses to anesthesia.
• Completes necessary documentation such as the Surgical Safety Checklist, pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic record, and transfer-of-care note.
• Enters incident reports into the computerized Safety Portal.
• Performs other tasks as directed.

Education

Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.

Experience

Licensure/Certification/Listing Required:

• North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by the NC Board of Nursing
• Certification/Recertification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA)

License/Certification

• BLS/CPR: Required - BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
• ACLS Certification
• PALs or NPR per campus recommendation
