About the Facility
Claiborne Medical Center, a member of Knoxville-based Covenant Health, offers a full range of medical services including emergency care, general and orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation, and diagnostic services. Our radiology services are certified by the American College of Radiology in Computerized Tomography (CT), Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound. About the Role
Provides professional nursing care within the Emergency Room; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. In this PRN/OCC position, RNs must commit to working hours set by the Tier 2 commitment agreement.
Responsibilities
- Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
- Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis.
- Evaluates care outcomes.
- Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
- Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
- Participates on unit-based committees.
- Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Completes required education assignments annually.
- Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties above, RNs with 1 or more years of experience are required to:
- Correlate patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
- Assess learning needs of patient and family.
- Develop and initiate plan of care, involving patient and family.
- Recommend interventions.
- Evaluate plan of care.
- Resolve problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
- Demonstrate willingness to precept employees/students as directed.
- Review clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
Requirements
- Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the required license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience: New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation.
