About the role
We are searching for an Anesthesia Technician II with specialized experience to provide support to Anesthesia providers and other members of the interdisciplinary team. This position is fully competent in all anesthetizing locations, supplies, and related equipment. The Anesthesia Technician II works independently, demonstrates clinical skills for assisting with anesthesia-related procedures, and troubleshoots equipment across various locations (e.g., OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, CV). This role also serves as a mentor to other Anesthesia Technicians by training and orienting them.
Responsibilities
- Performs and/or assists with anesthesia-related procedures.
- Assists anesthesiologist with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors.
- Assists with induction by connecting patient to monitors.
- Assists with intubation and maintenance of patient’s airway.
- Assists with the insertion of IVs and other invasive lines.
- Prepares and sets up age-appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway supplies.
- Conducts other patient-related procedures as needed.
- Supervises the maintenance of anesthesia equipment and inventories supplies to meet departmental demands.
- Maintains an inventory of properly functioning anesthesia equipment and tracks repairs.
- Organizes, cleans, and maintains shelves and drawers where anesthesia supplies are stored.
- Retrieves equipment and inspects for problems.
- Maintains sterile supplies within expiration dates.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification by the American Heart Association.
- One of the following:
- CER-A-T certification (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)), or
- Associate’s Degree from an ASATT-approved anesthesia technician training program, or
- 5 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician (accepted in lieu of CER-A-T).
- Completion of an ASATT-approved anesthesia technician training program (technical diploma).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
