About the Role

Oversee and ensure the quality of information provided to Anesthesia Services through the revenue and reporting cycle. Interact with departments at all levels to ensure accuracy of information and quality of processes. Create and coordinate anesthesia and intensivist schedules. Implement or make changes to processes to accommodate information integrity. Provide direct daily oversight of Anesthesia Services with responsibility for the daily productivity of the department and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison to CPSST and affiliated programs on behalf of the department.
  • Provide monthly A/R and collection activity reports to reconcile quarterly invoices to the hospital.
  • Ensure accuracy of invoices prior to submitting to Administration/Accounting for processing.
  • Handle Kronos and payroll responsibilities.
  • Create and manage monthly/quarterly anesthesia and intensivist schedules.
  • Work with leadership on agenda items and meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate the ACGME Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship Program (e.g., complete all online annual program surveys, FRIEDA, ABA, AMA, and ACGME).
  • Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of patient accounting and financial counseling.
  • Demonstrate principles of staff leadership and ability to interact with staff in problem-solving situations.
  • Manage and improve accounts receivable with a proven track record.
  • Apply a “common sense” approach to problem-solving.
  • Interpret and apply complex governmental regulations regarding Medicare and Medicaid to the revenue cycle.
  • Develop and monitor specific objectives and standards for measurement of staff performance and productivity.
  • Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the department, instructing and prioritizing work to eliminate backlogs.
  • Work directly with patient families to resolve billing and service issues.
  • Work directly with support vendors to ensure contractual compliance regarding performance and assist in resolving outstanding issues.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to accounts receivable, staff and interdepartmental support, Charge Master, order entry, billing suspense, claims accuracy, compliance, and HIPAA as it relates to outsource billing.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Effectively administer the performance management system, including developmental feedback, goal setting, competency assessment, and progressive discipline.
  • Apply strong knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of governmental regulations as they pertain to Medicare and Medicaid billing and compliance.
  • Understand billing requirements for Medicare/Medicaid and private payors thoroughly.
  • Interpret complex governmental regulations and apply them practically.
  • Manage human resources soundly.
  • Make and implement decisions compatible with organizational goals.
  • Maintain composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; over five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
