About the role

The Analyst III/Senior Analyst, Revenue Management will be a key team member of the Revenue Management Team for Boehringer Ingelheim. This role will help to define strategic pricing for the species while driving value and profit increase discussions. Successfully completing these activities will lead to incremental margin for BI. This role will work closely with stakeholders from across Boehringer Ingelheim to understand customer and segment specific business models, test pricing or program hypothesis in the market through targeted test and control exercises, as well as perform financial analysis to guide decision making for pricing actions. This team member will provide senior leadership and senior sales/marketing members with recommendations to improve performance across these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Translation: Translates Corporate Strategy into Pricing and Contracting guidance for Executive leadership
    Builds relationships with business leaders and facilitates deeper relationships and consultative style between Revenue Management team and Sales and Marketing teams
    Understands key customers’ business models across multiple markets for Pet Vet, Pet Healthcare, Equine, Swine, Poultry, and Cattle
    Defines species-specific and cross-species contract evaluation frameworks

  • Analysis and Modeling: Works with marketing and sales teams to analyze prior transaction detail to inform pricing structures (e.g., discount vs. rebate) across various segments
    Develops models to inform price setting and promotion strategies, quantifying the incremental revenue and margin of price setting changes by product
    Led cross-functional projects that design and deploy pricing analytics as well as optimization and execution tools to enable effective pricing decisions while enhancing the quality and consistency of pricing processes

  • Champion and Lead Best Practices: Leads price setting discussions across Brands, Species, and Channels
    Drives discussions and recommendations on outcome-based pricing and various pricing models
    Works with the internal stakeholders to understand the product roadmap and help business leads create pricing strategies that align with that roadmap
    Works with Sales and Marketing to develop and test Contracting and Pricing hypotheses

  • Surface opportunities and drive optimization: Identifies opportunities to accelerate growth and test new pricing strategies
    Finds out what customers truly value by analyzing marketplace, customers, and value propositions
    Leads the establishment of the vision, prioritization, and roadmap for pricing initiatives
    Provides strategic insight into contract negotiations and the likely impact of pricing changes on the overall market

  • Analyst III Duties & Responsibilities: Develops and leads contract analysis through reconciling disparate data sets and creating solution-oriented approaches.
    This includes understanding the contract terms and conditions, preparing contract summaries, making recommendations for improvement, and leading the implementation of these recommendations.
    Works cross-functionally to communicate complex subject matter into insightful, understandable internal and external presentations.
    This includes creating PowerPoint presentations, presenting findings to the team, making recommendations for improvement, and leading the implementation of these recommendations.

Qualifications

  • SR Analyst requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, advance degree in Finance/Business and/or statistics/analytics preferred
    Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant pricing, contracting, financial analyst, commercial or industry experience
    Understanding of complex channel environments (e.g., US manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical) and how to contract and price in these environments effectively
    Experience in developing, implementing, and executing pricing and contracting strategies
    Experience in developing price elasticity models to inform pricing decisions
    Familiarity with various pricing models, their Pros/Cons and application
    Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, R Studio, Python, etc.) to generate insights that can help drive decisions
    Experience in conducting primary and secondary research
    Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in statistics preferred
    Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals
    Understanding of Animal Health pricing models and industry best practices required

  • Analyst III requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in quantitative oriented discipline
    Certifications in related functional areas is preferred (e.g., Professional Pricing Society, etc.)
    Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience
    Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and resources
    Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas, facts, and technical information to management, as well as other internal customers both verbally and written
    Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
    Familiarity with advanced analytical and/or programing skills preferred (SQL, R, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) is a plus
    Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others, without direct authority
    Prominent track record of success in functional area
