Job Summary

The Ambulatory Telephone Triage Nurse will perform telephonic nursing assessments, prioritize care, and provide recommendations based on decision support tools under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. This position adheres to professional standards, state, and federal regulations, and licensing/accreditation standards.

Essential Functions

  • Recognize signs and symptoms of emergencies and provide appropriate support.
  • Apply the nursing process during telehealth encounters.
  • Utilize decision support tools, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practices to prioritize and discharge patients.
  • Communicate effectively using various formats and technologies, building professional relationships and prioritizing care.
  • Solve problems collaboratively with patients, families, caregivers, and other health professionals.
  • Share information and assist in developing program goals and objectives.
  • Incorporate professional ethics and demonstrate compassion in all interactions.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality programs.

Required Additional Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
