Job Requirements

  • A valid NYS Nursing License from an Accredited School of Nursing/University/College
  • Outstanding organizational ability
  • A great team player with excellent communication skills
  • Even-tempered with emotional and physical stamina
  • At least five years of Ambulatory Surgery experience required
  • PREFERRED: Experience with high-acuity orthopedic procedures, Endoscopy procedures, Transfusions, Cardiac Procedures and dressing changes

Qualifications

  • Completion of unit specific competencies as scheduled

Skills

  • Mathematical ability necessary to compute drug dosages accurately
  • Operates all equipment and performs all procedures in nursing department
  • Demonstrates knowledge, abilities and skills required to perform a wide variety of nursing functions

Responsibilities

  • Prompt and efficient with minimal absences
  • Carrries out nursing interventions safely and accurately utilizing knowledge, judgment, and skill to implement physicians’ orders and the nursing plan of care
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills
  • Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of team members
  • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures
  • Initiate and maintain IV and Venous Access Ports (VAP) according to Hospital policies
  • Assist with lab draws as needed
  • Ability to operate IV pumps
  • Apply and maintain Wound Vac Pumps and dressing changes
  • Assists with minor procedures in the procedure room with providers
  • Assists in Surgery with Admission and Discharge when needed
  • Performs documentation in the nursing unit and in the patient’s record accurately, concisely and in a timely manner
  • Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand
  • Coordinates any staffing needs (Scheduling, time off requests, including payroll duties)
  • Oversees and is responsible for PACU, Pre & Post (ASU), PAT, Endo
