Responsibilities

  • Works with the Supervisor/Manager to apply the nursing process.
  • Aids in the orientation, training, and documentation of new clinical staff.
  • Assists in meeting continuing education needs and requirements for self and nursing staff.
  • Performs in a staff nurse capacity as needed to ensure quality patient care and safety.
  • Supports Performance Improvement and Risk Management activities and practices.
  • Attends divisional staff and provider meetings and presents agenda items as requested.
  • Makes clinical assignments, monitors performance, sets work schedules, and arranges coverage.
  • Maintains unit logs and tracers ensuring documentation meets organizational, accreditation, and quality requirements.
  • Assists in interviewing candidates for open nursing positions.
  • Assists in developing proposals for improved efficiency, productivity, or expansion of nursing services.
  • Assists in developing effective interdepartmental working relationships to ensure smooth, efficient patient care systems.
  • Serves as a staff resource for problem-solving and information gathering.
  • Maintains current licensure, certifications, and competencies.
  • Coordinates/implements training on new equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Aids in staff absence tracking and call-ins.
  • Assists in addressing medication temperature excursions to maintain medication safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required or Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required.
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, required. 1 year of nursing in an ambulatory care setting, preferred.
  • Leadership experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching.
  • Frequent fit testing, constant typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.

Hazards

  • Occasional radiation/radiant energy.
  • Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, dust, fumes, gases, mists.
  • Frequent odors.
