Ambulatory Services Rep II - Outpatient Ambulatory Welcome Desk

About the role

We’re searching for an Ambulatory Services Representative II with our Outpatient Ambulatory Welcome Desk, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation.

Responsibilities

• Check-in and welcome patients at the ambulatory clinics.
• Perform patient registration procedures according to departmental processes.
• Ensure patients are oriented to the virtual visit process and have all technology set up for successful visits.
• Communicate with patients, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and clinic processes.
• Alert clinic staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in patient’s scheduled appointments.
• Change status of all appointments daily to reflect arrived, cancelled, no-show, or rescheduled status.
• Maintain an organized filing system of current referrals in progress and already appointed, and communicate missed appointments to the PCP.
• Review new referrals with the provider of the day regarding appropriate appointment status.
• Cover the non-financial aspects of the inpatient admission process, such as calling escorts and helping with paperwork.
• May perform closing procedures, including reconciling fee receipts, completing deposit notification forms, balancing the credit card machines, and completing batch reports.
• Assist with insurance authorization, collecting cash and deposits, charge entry, billing, and reconciliation.
• Handle customer service and communication, including using Flowmaster and Room Management.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years' experience in customer service or 2 years clerical, medical office, or business experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Qualifications

• Must undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and policies.
