About the Role

The incumbent is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Neuro Science Clinic. This role involves supervising and directing staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. Key duties include managing human resources, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating in departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects. The role also serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Manage human resources and direct patient care activities in the Neuro Science Clinic.
  • Monitor unit budgets and participate in performance improvement projects across the department and medical center.
  • Serve as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and others.
  • Maintain clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise discretion in managing sensitive information, including employee records, patient records, financial data, and strategic plans.
  • Safeguard sensitive information and follow organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a nurse.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience.
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for the patient population.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required for all external candidates).
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • ACLS certified or eligibility for certification.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
