About the Role

Incumbent is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Clinic. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating in departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and others.

  • Exercise utmost discretion in managing sensitive information (e.g., employee/student records, health/patient records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information)
  • Ensure sensitive information is properly safeguarded and shared only with individuals who have a legitimate business need to know
  • Follow organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy

Requirements

  • Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a nurse
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for the patient population
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (all external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • ACLS certified or eligibility for certification

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
