About the Role
As directed by the UCI FQHC Governing Board of Directors, the incumbent is responsible for the overall management and fiscal oversight of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) throughout UCI Medical Center. In coordination with the FQHC Governing Board of Directors, the Chief Ambulatory Officer, and Physician Chairs, this role plans, organizes, directs, and manages the administrative and business operations of the FQHC clinics, ensuring compliance with grants and reporting requirements, budgets, policy, and patient satisfaction standards. The role builds internal and external relationships, identifies community health needs, and implements strategies to address those needs. Additionally, it leads quality innovations to serve patients and improve the quality of care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall management and fiscal operations of the FQHC.
- Ensure compliance with grants, reporting requirements, budgets, policies, and patient satisfaction standards.
- Plan, organize, direct, and manage administrative and business operations of FQHC clinics.
- Build internal and external relationships to identify community health needs.
- Implement strategies to address community health needs.
- Lead quality innovations to improve patient care.
- Apply process improvement methodologies, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, and implementation based on such assessments.
- Develop long and short-range goals and objectives through strategic planning.
- Use independent judgment and work autonomously.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across UC Irvine Health Affairs and with diverse stakeholders, especially physicians.
- Integrate functions with business plans and demonstrate a commitment to quality and customer-centeredness.
Requirements
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership position in a medical practice setting, healthcare administration, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Excellent understanding of healthcare finance, financial and analytical skills, and ability to develop financial models using Excel, Access, or other applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and change management principles.
- Ability to work autonomously and use independent sound judgment.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, especially physicians.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in MGMA or ACHE and ACMPE certification.
- Master's Degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
- Experience in an academic medical center environment.
