Ambassador, Public Realm Operations

About the role
The Public Realm Operations Ambassador ensures both public and private-owned amenities in the downtown public realm are clean, organized, and in excellent working order. Ambassadors help set up right-of-ways, parks, and plazas daily to create a welcoming environment, support activations and programming aligned with the organization’s mission, and collaborate with all MID teams.
Ambassadors operate under the “three Cs” priority framework: Clean, Clear, and Cared for. Employees strive to maintain a visually appealing and safe environment by resolving clutter, caring for people in the public realm, and demonstrating attentive oversight of public spaces.
Responsibilities
- Set up parks and public spaces daily, including loading/unloading delivery trucks, clearing obstacles, transporting waste, and replenishing supplies.
- Set up and break down daily amenities such as furniture, signage, and equipment for public spaces and activities.
- Provide event and programming support, including setup, staffing during events, and breakdown.
- Deliver high-level service to customers, ratepayers, and stakeholders, including ticket taking and stocking.
- Reference calendars and programs to guide setup and job duties.
- Monitor, track, and report on public realm art and beautification priorities.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on public realm amenities.
- Observe, track, and report data on public assets daily.
- Conduct data collection and documentation to support Ambassador program operations.
- Address physical public disorder (e.g., fallen scooters, misplaced signs, large debris) or coordinate with the Clean Team.
- Use computers and mobile devices to collect data and track daily work activities in public right-of-ways and DSA-managed spaces.
- Represent MID/DSA professionally at special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Must provide a valid ID.
- Customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of downtown Seattle and its community is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work outdoors for the entirety of each shift in all weather conditions, with exposure to potentially hazardous waste/substances.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Pay
Hourly range: $22.00–$27.00. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hiring occurs at the beginning of the range to allow for future growth based on performance, professional development, and increased responsibilities.
