Job Summary

The Alzheimer's Services Supervisor is a front line and supervisory position at PJS Care Services, representing the company and overseeing Alzheimer's care services. They promote clients' well-being by managing daily care and long-term planning, guiding and supervising staff, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with medical orders.

Desired Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state of Illinois
  • Degree in Nursing
  • Certification from Alzheimers Association EssentiALZ program
  • Certified Dementia specialist
  • Certified by national council of Certified Dementia Practitioners
  • 2-year experience working with Alzheimer disease patients, including 1 year in management
  • Completed State of Illinois Administration Code training for ability-centered care
  • Able to supervise (instruct, assign work, etc.) RNs, LPN’s, Nursing Assistants, and Aides
  • Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
  • Skills in reviewing clinical work of others for compliance with professional standards and practice guidelines

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Alzheimer disease program
  • Select, orient, train, coach, counsel, discipline, and recommend compensation for employees, communicate job expectations, and ensure adherence to HR policies and procedures
  • Frequently provide on-site supervision of RNs, LPNs, Nurse Assistants, and Aides to ensure the implementation of the Agency’s Policies and Procedures and effective Client care
  • Frequently receive feedback from Clients and nursing staff to assess relationships and address identified problem areas
  • Ensure the Client's Plan of Care is being implemented effectively
  • Assure quality of care by developing and implementing standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and administration code, state nurse practice act requirements, Illinois Department of Public Health, and other governing agency regulations, and making or recommending adjustments to remain in compliance
  • Provide information to Clients and health care team by answering questions and fulfilling requests
  • Educate employees, Clients, and Client's family members about health care issues
  • Function as a resource person and mentor to all RNs, LPNs, Nurse Assistants, and Aides under your supervision to maintain professional standards and be available to staff to answer questions and help deal with emergent matters
  • Schedule hours and assign staff to specific Clients
  • Receive care staff call-offs, record call-offs, and update schedule
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by designing and implementing policies and procedures, rules, and regulations accordingly
  • Provide input to the governing body for the development and improvement of policies and procedures to support Client safety and the provision of quality care
  • Maintain documentation of Client care services and audit Client records

General Notes

The Alzheimer Services Supervisor is a position of great responsibility requiring strong critical thinking and excellent people skills. Emergency situations may require quick, sound judgment and handling complex issues related to various issues. The scope of duties may change.

Place Of Employment

PJS Care Services' corporate office, Client homes, and work sites outside of the Client's home as needed.

Works In Consultation With

PJS Care Services' Agency Manager and Nursing Supervisor.

Work Hours

This is a full-time position requiring a variety of shifts and hours.
