Alternatives Client Portfolio Manager

Responsibilities
- Act as a vital bridge between our alternative investment team, business development/advisor teams, and UHNW clients/prospects (as well as some institutions).
- Foster client relationships and support business development activities.
- Raise awareness and educate advisors, business development officers, clients, and prospects about private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets, alternative solutions, and portfolio implementation through office visits, local events, in-person meetings, and virtual meetings.
- Communicate performance, explain complex market trends, and work with advisors to tailor portfolios to meet client goals.
- Contribute to and implement distribution strategy for alternative asset classes, deliver consistent execution of distribution strategy, and contribute to vision for the team.
- Translate complex investment strategies and market trends into clear, actionable information.
- Articulate our investment method, portfolio positioning, strategies, outlook, as well as market insights of our portfolio.
- Collaborate with advisors to ensure that asset allocation and investment decisions align with client goals and risk tolerances.
- Actively solicit and gather feedback from clients and advisors regarding alternative strategies and solutions. Collaborate with alternative investment team to integrate this feedback into capability enhancements and new products, ensuring that client needs are met effectively.
- Generate thought leadership ideas to fill the content platform for alternative asset classes and leverage content to generate client discussions.
- Collaborate with various parts of the organization (investment communications, marketing, marketing compliance, operations, etc.) to raise awareness and increase alternative investment education and adoption.
- Contribute and deliver the narrative for all client-facing materials and collateral.
- Deliver sales, servicing, and thought leadership presentations to all client channels, building a reputation as a subject matter expert alongside portfolio managers.
- Attend conferences/industry events as a subject matter expert.
- Partner with internal teams to design and automate reporting, bridging front-office insights with back-office data, ensuring all actions comply with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- CFA designation is preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience in relationship management and/or investment roles.
- Portfolio management experience is preferred.
- A strong understanding of financial markets, asset classes, and investment techniques, with deep knowledge of alternative investments.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and can clearly articulate investment philosophies.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and are comfortable engaging with sophisticated clients and stakeholders.

Benefits
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 - $230,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
