Akateko Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring interpreters to work remotely from their homes. We offer a competitive pay rate of $0.75 - $0.90 per minute and provide numerous advancement opportunities within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols.
• Speak clearly in both Akateko and English, using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and adhere to protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and communicate effectively in various industries, including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Be prepared to handle emotionally charged and stressful calls.

Requirements

• Fluency in Akateko and English with a strong understanding of cultural dynamics.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain detached and neutral during interpreting sessions.
• Experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Education or work experience in language-related fields.
• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
• Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.
