About the role
The AIT Mechanical Integration Technician plays a key role in Skyloom’s Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) operations. This position is responsible for the hands-on mechanical assembly of flight and non-flight hardware, including precision components, subassemblies, harnesses, and opto-mechanical structures.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical, electromechanical, and opto-mechanical components following work instructions.
- Identify and organize tools and components based on technical descriptions and BOMs.
- Perform precision inspections using metrology tools to meet aerospace-level specifications.
- Conduct mechanical and functional tests; troubleshoot and perform repairs when required.
- Document test outcomes, deviations, and failure analysis results.
- Collaborate with engineering to implement corrective actions and fixture updates.
- Maintain ESD and FOD controls and follow space-grade cleanliness standards.
- Report deviations in parts, tools, or workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within AIT.
- Adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, AIT, electronics, PCB assembly, or high-precision manufacturing.
- Familiarity with precision fasteners and metric hardware.
- Proficiency using basic math for measurements.
- Able to read and follow detailed work instructions and drawings.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Able to comply with safety, ESD, and PPE requirements.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, cleanroom, AIT, or precision assembly environments.
- Familiarity with space hardware or optical components.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems such as Odoo.
- Interest in skill development within a multidisciplinary and international team.
