Airside General Manager
About the role
The MA Airside General Manager is responsible for implementing and adhering to MA Safety, Security, Quality, and Training policies and SOPs as well as local, state, and Federal regulations and all station operations, service delivery. The role requires a seasoned senior manager with a strong operational and business understanding and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the safety and well-being of MA staff; promoting a Safety-First culture; and managing all other aspects of running the station
- Implementation and adherence to MA Safety, Security, Quality, and Training policies and SOPs as well as all relevant industry, local, state, and Federal regulations
- Leadership and collaboration with the senior team to maintain and enhance appropriate, effective safety and security systems, risk assessments, periodic inspections and audits, operational training programs, planning, operational processes, and service delivery
- Leading by example and providing immediate and direct feedback to Employees and colleagues
- Ensuring a system for the effective delivery of safety-related briefings and the cascade of safety-related bulletins, alerts, and information
- Development of station-level budgets
- Ensuring proper staffing, planning, and scheduling are in place
- Ensuring processes are sufficient to ensure inventory and accounting for all Company assets, consumable parts, contracted services, and vendor payments
- Accountability for the financial performance and compliance with Corporate Governance and Legal aspects of Menzies’ businesses in the station
- Regular interaction with customers to promote the station and measure customer satisfaction
- Pursuing opportunities for new business and growth of existing services
- Development and implementation of the station Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Local Contingency Plan (LCP), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC), Facility Response Plan (FRP), Environmental Emergency Response Plan (EERP), and/or Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
- Assignment of a Safety, Security, & Compliance Manager/Officer to oversee the implementation of the Menzies Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) and Health & Safety manual (H&S) policies at the base
- Appointment of a Principle Manager for all matters relating to Security at the station per the MA Security Manual (SeMS)
- Assignment of a primary delegate ensuring compliance with the Menzies Aviation Quality Assurance Manual (QAM)
- Assignment of a primary delegate ensuring compliance with the Menzies Aviation Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Assistance in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near misses and cooperation in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations
- Evaluation of root causes and recommendation of corrective action; and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained
- Administration of the Workers’ Compensation Program (Reed Group in CAN), including timely reporting, Employee follow-up, and aggressive Return-to-Work promotion
- Leadership and motivation of hard-working teams to deliver excellent quality and productivity
- Motivation and direction of Managers to achieve agreed targets
- Reviewing leading and lagging indicators of Safety and Operational performance
- Conducting routine (weekly) Staff Meetings
- Completion of Manager’s Self-Certifications and other Workplace Inspections (as required)
- Performance Appraisals of direct reports and provision of constructive feedback for career planning, professional growth, and opportunities for improvement
- Establishment of Reward and Recognition programs promoting Safe Behaviors, Procedural Compliance, and Extraordinary Performance
- Ensuring the firm, fair, and consistent accountability for compliance with MA work rules and policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous airport leadership experience required
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Experience in business development, sales, and commercial negotiation & pricing
- Wides-ranging general management experience, with some years of senior management experience
- Extensive management and/or support service experience, preferably in an into plane fueling or ground equipment fueling environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present at all levels
- Independence, decisiveness, and the ability to work accurately and independently of immediate support
- Able to influence, engage, and motivate at all levels
- Flexible, determined to succeed, and self-motivated
- All applicants must hold requisite employment authority to work in the US
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Possess and maintain current valid US driver’s license
- Able to proficiently read, write, and speak English
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- Must be comfortable lifting 70lbs
- Must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal
- Available and flexible to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
