Airport Site Lead

About the Role

Leidos is seeking an Airport Site Lead to provide technical and project management support for commercial airport projects. This position encompasses full project lifecycle management as the site lead/project manager, including site surveys/validations, risk identification and mitigation, coordination, communication, report development, drawing review, construction management/oversight, schedule development and tracking, permit application and closeout, subcontractor oversight, installation oversight, test witness, and project sell-off/close-out of security systems related to checkpoint equipment deployments at federalized airports throughout the United States. The role supports the TSA SEDS program to maintain, upgrade, and transition airport security systems to next-generation capabilities.

This position requires up to 75% travel to airport locations as assigned. Some work may require non-standard work shifts (evening or weekends) to accommodate customer requirements for minimal disruption to airport operations.

Responsibilities

• Project management at assigned airports, including coordination, site survey/validation, design support, communication, and developing statement of work bid packages.
• Construction oversight, site/equipment layout evaluation, witness test/checkout, and site clean-up/restoration.
• Manage up to 5–7 projects at various lifecycle stages concurrently.
• Guide or direct daily activities for geographically assigned teams (2–10 members), including site technicians, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and local general contractors.
• Facilitate communications and coordination between TSA HQ, local TSA, airport stakeholders, operations management, general subcontractors, other TSA vendors, airport authority representatives, and state/local government officials.
• Exercise expert judgment to assess project, construction, and equipment installation best practices; conduct requirements analysis; review design drawings, specifications, and deliverables; support connectivity construction, installation, and acceptance testing; and oversee site clean-up and remediation.
• Monitor project schedules, communicate potential delays or modified plans, and mitigate unnecessary costs to the customer.
• Develop agendas and lead conference calls, including ad hoc, weekly, integrated project team (IPT), and installation readiness ("Go/No-Go") meetings.
• Organize, document, and disseminate meeting minutes to the team as required.
• Multitask in a fast-paced environment while responding promptly to requests for information, schedule updates, status reporting, and forward planning from Leidos, TSA, and other stakeholders.
• Proactively prepare for future activities and maintain punctuality to stay on or ahead of schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience, or Master’s Degree and 6 years of experience. Eight years of additional related experience may substitute for a BA/BS degree.
• Three years of Project Management experience (preferably construction management) in an airport environment, with at least 2 years occurring in an airport setting.
• Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager (preferably construction management) with a track record of on-time, on-budget projects, accounting for complexities and schedule history.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders on a single project.
• Experience in planning and formulating design alternatives and solutions for construction projects.
• Management experience overseeing work performed by field staff and subcontracting firms.
• Experience resolving compliance issues with federal, state, and local authorities regarding design specifications.
• Thorough understanding of airport construction practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities, including floor loading, electrical infrastructure, seismic requirements, and rigging complexities.
• Familiarity with the Checkpoint Requirements Planning Guide (CRPG) for Checkpoint operations.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently within a cross-functional team.
• TSA-vetted (current or past).

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in a technical field such as Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management (desired).
• TSA experience in the field at a checkpoint, baggage, or security outpost.
• Transportation Security Equipment (TSE) deployment management experience in the Central Region of the United States.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed PE, PMI® PMP, or General Contractor License) (a plus).
• Knowledgeable in MS Project or other scheduling tools.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with, coordinate, and manage multi-disciplined teams of technical and project management professionals while serving as the liaison with customers and stakeholders.

Pay

Pay Range: $73,450.00 – $132,775.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
