Airport Ramp Supervisor

GAT is seeking dynamic individuals to join its team of aviation professionals. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

About the Role

The Ramp Supervisor will lead, direct, and coordinate the efforts of ground, line, and cabin service personnel to ensure the timely delivery of all contracted airline services. The role involves accountability for safety, operational standards, policy implementation, client relations, and financial performance for ramp operations.

Responsibilities

• Establish shift assignments for full-time and part-time employees.
• Monitor and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment.
• Report functional and mechanical discrepancies on ground support equipment.
• Coordinate with assigned carriers to meet cargo and baggage service needs, ensuring on-time schedules.
• Ensure equipment is in safe and efficient operating status.
• Confer with supervisors and managers to coordinate activities across departments.
• Determine manpower requirements and conduct disciplinary procedures fairly and consistently.
• Comply with attendance and tardiness standards; perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
• Ensure necessary ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcoming flights.
• Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage routing tags.
• Follow and comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations.
• Brief crews before flights on positions and operational procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must possess computer experience (6+ months) and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to navigate electronic devices (computers, fax machines, printers, timeclock, etc.).
• Proven track record in supervising a business unit.
• Experience in operational planning and resource allocation.
• Working knowledge of GSE (Ground Support Equipment) maintenance issues.
• Experience and understanding of commercial issues in aviation.
• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Previous ramp or airline experience.
• Must successfully complete all training requirements and maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Must clear an FBI fingerprint background check.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically fit to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
• Capable of repetitively lifting up to 70 pounds in confined spaces.
• Willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noises.

Schedule

• Must be able and flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
