About the role

Filling multiple positions Airport Operations Agent - Colorado Springs Airport.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections of runways, taxiways, ramps, lighting, signage, perimeter barriers, facilities, and buildings to ensure compliance with FAA, TSA, and local regulatory requirements.
• Identify discrepancies and issue maintenance work orders.
• Issue Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) when conditions warrant.
• Operate vehicles on airport movement and non-movement areas while maintaining required radio communication with Air Traffic Control and other airport personnel.
• Respond to all airport emergencies, including aircraft incidents and accidents; coordinate responding services; serve as the initial Airport incident commander until relieved; document activities; and prepare required reports.
• Conduct security inspections and compliance checks in accordance with TSA regulations and the Airport Security Program; respond to alarms, security incidents, and access control issues.
• Inspect and monitor terminal and landside operations to support safe passenger flow, facility readiness, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain detailed written logs and prepare reports on significant events, communications, operational actions, discrepancies, and incidents occurring during the shift.
• Communicate effectively with tenants, stakeholders, internal departments, responding agencies, and the public to support routine operations and emergency responses.
• Exercise a high degree of critical thinking and sound decision-making to assess situations, determine appropriate actions, resolve operational issues, and escalate matters to senior staff when necessary.
• Implement department plans and procedures during operational events, emergencies, irregular operations, and other situations requiring coordinated response, including:
• Implement and coordinate snow removal activities in accordance with the Airport Snow and Ice Control Plan.
• Observe ground transportation and other landside activities to ensure compliance with Airport rules and operating requirements.
• Coordinate responses to irregular operations such as diversions, and service disruptions.

Requirements

• Pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.
• Valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions.

Qualifications

• Completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
• One year of full-time airport operations or administration, airfield maintenance, airline or FBO (Fixed Base Operator) ramp operations and/or directly related military experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aviation management, flight operations, emergency management, or a related field.
• Two or more years of airport operations experience at a Part 139 certificated airport.
• Experience issuing Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and coordinating operational restrictions or closures with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Control.
• Completion of additional airport operations training or professional certifications.
• Experience supporting compliance programs related to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 1542 regulatory requirements.
• Participation in airport emergency responses, irregular operations, or snow/ice control events.

Skills

• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR Part 139 and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars.
• Knowledge of Airport Security Regulations 49 CFR Part 1542.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Airport policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
• Ability to properly communicate during emergencies and remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to operate radios, communication systems, CCTV, fire alarm systems, and related monitoring tools.
• Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to stay informed of airport operational, safety, and security issues.
