Duties
- Perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance on aircraft components.
- Conduct necessary checks on mechanical and functional components of aircraft.
- Test and replace defective or faulty parts using various tools and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards of work.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness in the hanger or workshop.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and steps.
- Frequent repetition of hand, arm, and finger motions.
- Frequent vision abilities including close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation.
- Frequent hearing abilities including tone and volume discernment.
- Frequent lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to outdoor elements such as high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.
- Frequent exposure to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
- Frequent exposure to loud noises.
Safety Sensitive Position
- Responsible for the safety or security of people or property.
- Inspect, handle, or transport explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials.
- Inspect structures, equipment, or vehicles.
- Perform aviation-related duties.
- Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery.
Skills
- Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Own tools in good working order.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.
- Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
Preferred
- FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
- Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Typically 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience.
Related Experience
- May be considered in lieu of required education.
Certifications & Licenses
- Class 3 Physical.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification.
