About the Group

The Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO) develops and delivers Metrea’s aviation engineering and integration capabilities, focusing on aircraft modification, system integration, and technical project management. AERO transforms mission requirements into operational assets by designing, engineering, and integrating new systems and technologies, managing aviation project lifecycles from concept to testing to ensure performance, safety, and airworthiness standards are met.

About the Role

The Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic will perform required maintenance on aircraft, engines, appliances, and accessories in accordance with approved technical data. This role ensures all maintenance adheres to applicable manuals and procedures, with a focus on troubleshooting, repair, and compliance. While reporting to the AMT Lead, the mechanic will work with minimal supervision on routine tasks and mentor junior mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual and detailed inspections of airframes, engines, landing gear, and components for wear, damage, or defects
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions using blueprints, manuals, and diagnostic tools (Inspection Authorization (IA) highly desired)
• Troubleshoot, repair, install, rig, and modify aircraft systems without direct supervision
• Perform adjustments, repairs, and replacements on engines, hydraulics, avionics, and structural components
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply standard practices to overcome challenges during aircraft modifications
• Support other technicians by demonstrating proper procedures and sharing technical knowledge
• Communicate with the AMT Lead to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and aircraft readiness
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance protocols during maintenance operations
• Support aircraft inspections and modification programs as required
• Assist in enforcing company and departmental policies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with aircraft structures and systems
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships across the organization
• Proficiency in maintenance technical publications, structural inspection/repair manuals, AMOS, and Veryon/FlightDocs for tracking and compliance

Qualifications

• A&P Certificate (preferred)
• Basic computer skills
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Schedule

This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours from Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on department and business needs, and overtime may be required with manager approval.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a hangar or flight line environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noise, and aircraft systems. The position may require standing, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Strict adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Occasional travel (0–10%) and overtime may be required to support operational demands.
