Aircraft Systems Installer Final Phase
Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site (MMS) is looking for an Aircraft Systems Installer for the final phase to join our production team in Mobile, AL. This position is responsible for the systems installation of the aircraft during the final phase, requiring a high degree of autonomy and outstanding work across various aircraft systems.
About the Team
The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities assembles the A220 and A320 Family aircraft across two (soon to be three) production lines. Your Working Environment
The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft is located on ‘Airbus Way’ at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. Opened in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This site strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and supports Airbus’ global competitiveness.
Responsibilities
- Prepare mechanical components at the station, workplace, or aircraft parking space.
- Install and manufacture: mark, prepare, assemble, adapt, torque, and secure mechanical components and parts.
- Inspect bonding as per order, GTI, drawing, and specifications.
- Check system functions and inspect multiple areas.
- Specialize in one of the following areas:
- Hydraulic lines installation and servicing
- Installation of the Belly fairing, MLG Bay, NLG, VU’s, APU, and wings inspections
- Gauging and testing
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
- Preferred: Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and techniques.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Aviation Production or equivalent.
- Preferred: Completed vocational training (Mechanics/Systems) and 5+ years of hands-on experience in Aviation Production.
Skills and Capabilities
- Knowledge of system/mechanical tasks.
- Good knowledge and experience in LEAN practices.
- High degree of flexibility and ability to work under high pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Vision: Adequate to read computer screens and identify individuals for interactions.
- Hearing: Sufficient to engage in conversation and hear safety alerts.
- Speaking: Ability to engage in conversations and deliver information to groups.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate personal and office electronic equipment, work on jigs at heights up to 15 feet, and use hydraulic lifts at heights up to 40 feet.
- Carrying: Ability to occasionally carry up to 55 lbs/25 kg.
- Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs/25 kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push/pull items in office and production areas.
- Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to occasionally squat or kneel.
- Confined Space: Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., 12" x 22" passage or 9.7" x 17.7" opening) while using a respirator.
- Heights: Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet on platforms and lifts.
- Standing: Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Travel: Ability to travel overseas and domestically for extended periods.
- Walking: Ability to walk through office, production areas, flight lines, and uneven surfaces.
