Aircraft Technician A - Mechanical Installer (Flightline)

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Aircraft Technician A - Mechanical Installer to join the Flightline team in Columbus, MS. You will perform mechanical removals and installations on assigned aircraft or parts and subassemblies, and assist other technicians as needed.

The role is based in Columbus, MS, where Airbus produces the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform fabrication, assembly, installation, repair, replacement, adjustment, and alignment of parts and components.
• Conduct functional checks of systems for proper functioning.
• Perform work from three-dimensional blueprints, sketches, diagrams, technical manuals, work orders, inspection reports, and similar documentation.
• Troubleshoot malfunction or failures on aircraft systems, including: aircraft equipment furnishings, fire protection, fuel system, hydraulics, landing gear, doors, fuselage, stabilizer, rotor systems, power plant, and engine controls.

Requirements

• Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in mechanical installations in industrial or automotive settings.
• Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Technical training in aviation or mechanical fields (e.g., automotive) is highly desirable.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).

Physical Requirements

• Onsite: 95% onsite work.
• Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings (100%).
• Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and hear sounds on the production floor, including safety warnings or alarms (100%).
• Speaking: Ability to speak in conversations, meetings, and deliver information (100%).
• Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (computers, telephones, copiers, etc.) and production tools such as hydraulic lifts (100%).
• Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg (100%).
• Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg (100%).
• Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools (50%).
• Sitting: Ability to sit for long periods during meetings or computer work (10%).
• Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving (10%).
• Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor (80%).
• Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice (5%).
• Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces (50%).

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer site. Steel-toed shoes are mandatory for shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required.
