Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH A&P)(TDY Locations vary) CBA Fort Bliss, TX

A&P Mechanic specializing on the LUH72 airframe. All experience must be within the ten most recent years.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs and modifications of aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
• Maintain and repair aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Apply technical knowledge of airframe and powerplant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and solve complex problems using technical data like blueprints and manufacturer manuals.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair aircraft mechanical components, requiring broad knowledge of sheet metal and structural modifications.
• Determine functionality of complex and non-complex electrical systems.
• Accomplish inspections including preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
• Launch and recover aircraft as required.
• Perform operational checks of all aircraft systems and maintain aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
• Operate ground support equipment and use hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
• Perform all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
• Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and complete associated CAMS entries.
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
• Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory and ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, shears, and cable tensiometers.
• Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks, records, military technical publications, and the Army’s Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System (ULLSAE).
• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
• Must be able to routinely lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
• Frequently required to climb or balance, work in small spaces, and work at heights at or above 40 feet.
• Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and operation of portable firefighting equipment.
• Valid up-to-date A&P license or five years aviation maintenance experience, five years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
• All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA-certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
• Must possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance performed by Mechanic I skill class.
• Must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox; tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
• Must be able to travel as required for LUH mission.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship is required.
• Driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

• Work conditions may range from comfortable environments to exposure to inclement weather (severe temperature changes, wind, rain, snow, ice).
• May be required to work in areas with high noise hazards.
• May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.

Pay

$44.45 - $49.22 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
