About the role
The Aircraft Mechanic I (UH-60) performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Responsibilities include removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies, services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems, prepares aircraft for inspections, performs inspections, conducts maintenance checks, uses tools, prepares forms and records, removes and disassembles defective parts, maintains supplies, and performs additional duties.
Responsibilities
- Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
- Servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems.
- Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
- Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
- Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.
- Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
- Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
- Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
- Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
- Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
- Valid up-to-date A&P license (optional).
- Three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
- Valid Driver’s License. Must provide own tools/toolbox.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
- Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
- Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
- Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
