Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH-72 A&P) CBA Tucson, AZ

Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH-72) A&P position focused on helicopter maintenance, excluding system repairs. Must adhere to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.
• Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
• Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
• Perform scheduled inspections and assist in special inspections.
• Perform limited maintenance operational checks and assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment.
• Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
• Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
• Remove and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft.
• Maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
• Perform additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.
• Adhere to company policies and safety programs with a safety-first mentality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
• Five years of aviation maintenance experience, five years of rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years assigned to the MDS.
• All experience must be within the ten most recent years.
• Valid up-to-date A&P license.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox (toolbox requirements provided upon selection).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Travel applicable via CBA requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.

Skills

• Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
• Advanced knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
• Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
• Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
• Experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
• Ability to receive technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician, lead teams through complex tasks, and make entries in aircraft logs and records.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

• Walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
• Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
• Crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Lift/push/pull heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
• Type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications.
• Handle dirty parts and lubricants.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
• Operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
• Work in maintenance shop or outside in drafty, noisy, and dirty environments.
• Exposure to extreme noise from operating equipment and electrical shock hazards.
• Work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
• Work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.

Pay

USD: $39.26 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate listed is a good-faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
